The only way to spend New Year’s Eve is either quietly with friends or in a brothel. Otherwise when the evening ends and people pair off, someone is bound to be left in tears.

That’s interesting: I was going to post a quote from WH Auden this evening to go with an image I was considering; ‘As I Walked out one Evening’. There’s a great line in it about the bells chiming and time doing its thing and so on. It’s a quote used in a favourite film of mine: ‘Before Sunset’.
I wish you a Very Happy New Year. I hope 2012 brings whatever you want and need!

I’m sure you didn’t consider going with this one, now did you Meanderer?LOL. Kinda crude, but so valid as well, being about the eternal damnation of loneliness, and all that…
Yep, ‘Before Sunset’ is one of my all time favourite films as well, and no, I didn’t realize that there was a quote of his used in the film. I’ve been meaning to watch it again, so I’ll look out for it this time round.
And the same to you too, all the best in the new year.

The quite friend option was mine this year. Though there are always these friends of mine that can’t let go. Little demons in my mind since I sold my soul at the crossroads, man. But as I can see you got them too. So I’ll raise a glass. Happy new year, my friend!
All the best & safe travels, Fritsch.

Yes, and mine too, quietly reflecting, listening to those demons of loneliness burning through my soul. Oh yes, I got them too, brother.
But, let’s look forward to the new journey, to the open road, let’s allow it to embrace us with it’s open defiance…
Cheers,
JP
