Life on Mars

This is major Tom to ground control, I’m stepping through the door
And I’m floating in a most peculiar way
And the stars look very different today
Here am I sitting in a tin can far above the world
Planet Earth is blue and there’s nothing I can do

– David Bowie

Love the photography! Was this street art here or did you contribute?

    • Ha ha, no, only in a appreciative way. Wish I had something to do with that spaceman though…Thanks so much, glad you liked them!

  2. Excellent shots. Great words. I couldn’t read it, I had to sing it. Bowie is one of the best!

    • I’m going through such a Bowie inspired mind space tonight, so I thought these might be appropriate…Glad you could sing along!

  5. Amazing how you manage to find these! An excellent presentation as well. They do look like photos from some alien place…

    • Ah man, they are everywhere! The streets are filled with them…
      Thanks so much, Sorin.

  6. “I start looking back for the things I used to live by / If only I could remember them / Even one of them / You can’t lose it all at once, can you really / Cause brother I’ve been trying / These days even stars fall only a little at a time” (Magnolia Electric Co.)

But I know what to do: Follow your steps & find the stars. The blue stars that sure turn me around completely. Falling, hypnotizing, melancholic. Then again freeing my mind & make me feeling good because it’s such a great experience to dive into your sad beauty head first, man. Smiling at last!

All the best & safe travels, Fritsch.

    • Ah man, those lyrics are absolutely perfect, how they speak aloud what comes to mind…

And on we walk, drifting along in perfect harmony. Cheers, brother.

  7. This is very good, JP! I’m a big fan of the Bowie song anyway, but it does fit in very well with the three photos >>> and in addition, I think that they’re a good photo series, and that each of them stands up well >>>in its own right – very nice colouring/toning, and an excellent series of subjects! Overall this post is a really excellent package! Take care! Adrian

  8. Isn’t it interesting how a certain image reminds you of a song, or vice versa? Suddenly it’s so clear in your mind, suddenly it’s all you can hear, all you can see. Well, that’s what happened with these…

    Thanks so much, my friend.

  10. curious about the cast on your photos. Is that a digital filter or due to using film?

    January 15, 2012 at 7:15 pm

    • Hi Helen. Well, these are digital, created by a combination of hue, saturation and exposure. Basically fiddling around till I got it to my liking.
